RE: thomas and friends mini series - Pablo392 - 12-14-2016 (12-12-2016, 08:06 PM)mikedaws Wrote: Check out classic James and creature troublesome truck from the Costco pack vs the blind bags just as good examples I didn't buy the Costco pack since the wheels are really useless for me, and I would probably end up with 3 or 4 of the others, but I did compare Made In China Diesel and Made in Thailand Diesel. Strangely, China Diesel have a better mouth mold, but the eyes are not looking straight, the quality wise, there isn't a major difference, and unless you guys have the sensitivity of one of those jewelry scales, I can't really tell the difference, neither can my kitchen scale. In fact the China one weighs slightly more as it goes between 17 to 18 grams but I took the picture when it read 17 or 0.6oz for Thailand vs 0.065oz for China. The paint does seem to have a different tint on the details, but I would not call it lower quality. If I have time I'll do more comparisons. PS: Spongebob engines were made in Thailand. I don't know if they are remaking them in China now. Thanks for the great update. I think the big issue on the ones from China is that the painting seems a little lighter and a little fuzzier. Almost like its a little out of focus and not quite as sharp. It's really clear on the trains that have greater designs on them and the ones that have more vibrant colours. Hoping this is just potentially a transitional issue and the painting quality will improve over time RE: thomas and friends mini series - Pablo392 - 12-14-2016 (12-14-2016, 08:48 PM)mikedaws Wrote: Thanks for the great update. Wife didn't notice, so I am going to have to replace the batteries before I get blamed for it running out, I probably use it more than she does anyway. I'm just going to be happy as long as they keep making new minis. I'm hoping they make more than what's already been announced for 2017. Almost feels like most of them have already been released. more the merrier Hoping for more crossovers too. Maybe using either classic Mattel lines or new licences. Thinking the DC will be running out of characters soon. They already seem to be stretching a little RE: thomas and friends mini series - ShyGundamGuy - 12-15-2016 I picked up 2 new 3-packs at Walmart: Space Gordon+ Construction Toby+ Classic Stephen and Night Time Toby+ Space Hiro+ Classic Dash. All of them felt lighter than my other minis, and when I opened the Stephen and Dash, they were missing the metal weight inside. The others from the packs also felt like they were missing the weights. I don't know if I got a bad batch, or if this is a new cost saving feature, but the 2017/1 blind bags I've opened still had the weights inside. Could you share the pictures? I have to dig up my Space & Night Times and will compare against classics. RE: thomas and friends mini series - YALLLOW - 12-15-2016 I know I've said this before, but I'm tired of the DC ones. Let's get some new themes! Wizard of Oz, Disney, etc. and more classics! RE: thomas and friends mini series - ShyGundamGuy - 12-15-2016 Picture of Stanley and Stephen RE: thomas and friends mini series - mikedaws - 12-15-2016 (12-14-2016, 09:07 PM)mikedaws Wrote: To be totally honest. Tons of characters and cool you line from the 80's. Still a huge fan base out there nowadays too also to throw it out there...Star Wars... (12-15-2016, 08:45 PM)mikedaws Wrote: Totally agree. RE: thomas and friends mini series - Pablo392 - 12-15-2016 Confirmed, new ones are much lighter, and lack the weight plates: Made in China Hiro definitely feels lighter than Thai-made Hiro as well as the others from the same package. |
