Remote controlling your engines?

I am very new to this site, and I am hoping this is the right place to put this thread, but would it be possible to use, for example, a Tomy Thomas train, and then modify it to be able to be remote controlled? (Different speeds, etc)
What would be needed to modify this feature into an engine, as sometimes a single flick of the switch doesn't have much variety of motion. Hopefully this can be pulled off as I find it would be useful. Smile

I you were to to this you would need to get mr motorman, that is th only way. That you could make it remote control. There are many mr motorman but ucwepen has the green one so get the green one
Ok, so what is the difference between Mr Motorman's, is it just colour or is it power?
Also, is there one that would work for AA batteries?

No I don't think they do
I believe they made one for Plarail Advance, too. I guess there are AA-sized recievers somewhere.
correct. There is a Mr. Motorman for plairail advance.

The problem with Mr. Motorman is that it is restricted to engines that uses "C" battery.

There is of course also the offical Tomy plarail advance remote as well. Maybe the remote control part of that could be converted to drive a motor in a full size Plarail engine if you are versatile enough with DIY/electronics Smile
Happily collecting things all my life... Big Grin
I'm pretty sure I saw an AA battery thing for a Mr Motorman, this might work for engines that use AA batteries: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10307638
