Hey everyone at Blueplastistracks!

I was wondering if anyone has a successful way of removing stickers off of the old Tomy Thomas trains, as i'm wanting to re-paint the details on the trains. (tender, etc)

Yes use a heat gun or a blow dryer at close range to heat up the stickers glue (not too hot or so close as to warp the plastic) and it will loosen its bond and they should pull right off!!
Play nice & have fun!!Smile

I like to soak the shell in hot soapy (I use Dishwashing Liquid) water for a half hour or more then use a product called "Goo Be Gone" with a cotton swab to remove the whats left. Then back in the hot soapy bath and use a small hand brush or old toothbrush to give the whole shell a good brushing. Not only does this help in removing the stickers but gives the shell a good cleaning removing dust, dirt and oils from the nooks and crannies which should aid in your new paints adhesion. Mind you a good rinsing with brush in clear water is needed to remove and residue from the Goo Be Gone or soap. For stubborn stickers I sometimes repeat the first steps with a new bath of hot soapy water.

Note:
Of course the engines shell must be removed from the chassis for this but I have actually disassembled the whole engines, removing the motor and giving "all" the other parts a bath and brush.
