Crazy Thomas knockoff

I'm on holiday this week on the east coast of England, if anyone knows the English east coast you'll know it's 'on the decline' most towns had there heyday in the last century and many of these resorts are quite run down now, usually framed with a gray threateningly overcast sky & a brisk wind tugging at your coat.

Well that's us today in the rain, so we went shopping. We hit the town visiting all the Tat shops that sell the same generic plastic cheap rubbish that we all know so well. In one shop I came across this that made me think of this thread!

Cool, thanks for thinking of us Tramp. Was this new and how much were they charging? By the looks of the size of the engine this is very much like the Dumica knockoff I bought a while ago which is a ad bit larger than what we are use to.

That reminds me: is Dumica actually a knockoff, or are there knockoffs of Dumica? Wasn't there an ad for Dumica on an official Plarail site?

Yes super I think your right, very similar to dumica, the box said flashing lights and sound.
Yes it was new, the price was £15, which i thought was reasonable, but it's just not for me.
On another note we visited a carboot sale and I picked up a Second hand Spencer for £2, he was missing his tender but if nothing else he will make a parts engine, that and I wanted a Spencer body to practice defacing on,
Does that box read "extraordinary come on brains"???
Is that even a sentence? Lol
Play nice & have fun!!Smile

Can't wait to see what you come up with for a defaced Spencer as he looks the most difficult to do.

Actually de-facing Spencer should be a doddle, the real A4 just has a fairly flat front slope, so take the face off, fill with milliput and sand down, re-paint it light/mid-blue and bingo you have an A4 Mallard or similar Smile

Maybe just grinding down Spencers face plate may have the same results but using filler may be better then the smoke stack could be re-positioned forward like in your picture.

More to the point you can save Spencer's mug for maybe another custom later - for example if I ever get round to finishing that 3D model I'm working on it could be fitted to make a custom 'Davide' or something (yes I made the name up lol!)
