Yes if your videos get good views youtube will invite you to be a partner, I get offers from shady networks everyday who promise the world but I find it hard to trust these people lol

well companies approach google to buy ads, they then bid against other companies to get prime adspace on well known channels for a good price, the ads then appear on peoples videos who have monetization enabled and if its a starting ad (skip in 5 secs) 1 complete playthrough is a click, or someone clicking on the ad is a click. Google has sophisticated software to see who is clicking, and at the end of each month google will pay you if the amount is over the threshold ($150 I think).

So makers of the videos don't do anything and just take whatever Google says? I don't get the over $150 threshold. What $150?

You have to reach $150 worth of revenue per month. If you make less than $150 of revenue, google will not pay you. In other words, you have to hit a revenue quota before google pays you.

The revenue for the youtubers is a certain percentage that advertisers paid Google (3% for example) to run their ad on your videos.

Wow...you are right. Very curious and thats their only video so do you think he is not monetized? The likes and dislikes are split so how could it receive that many views. Was there a Thomas episode or movie by the same name as the video?
