i actually was at a tru that was closing.
it was by sheer luck. just had some extra time before an appointment.
the sale was 30-50% off.
i bought a few things as i wasn't expecting this sale.
but it was a child, in the store that really caught my attention.
he said, to his parents: " this store is a kids paradise! why is it closing?"
i remember going to tru when i was a child. the excitement and wonder of aisle after aisle of toys. all kinds of toys.
i understand the digital age. everything on-line, and mega stores that have a little of everything. however, kids are people too. they have feelings and emotions. and i hope that a store emerges that is dedicated to them, once again.
i think its a sad ending.

we all, everyone here, buys these toys for their own reasons.
however, they were meant for and designed for children.
we just took them to another level.
in short, these toys are part of their world, we are just visiting.
to me its a sad ending.

Toys 'R' Us stores may be closing, but name will live on

I don't know about you but I fear the thought that some knockoff Chinese toy maker having the name 'Toys R Us' on their cheap imitation toys.

.

I heard from the radio that some toy companies may purchase some Toy R US stores in US.

That would be great. I imagine a lot of stores will still close but if they could save the core business, it would be better than losing TRU entirely.

I believe a similar deal is in the works for TRU Canada.

that is correct. Toy R US owns money to some toy manufacturers. Perhaps they will take over shares of the company as a result of default payment.

O the irony, the founder of Toy R US just passed away.

I guess he went down with the company.

At 94 I wonder if he still had all his faculties enough to know what has been going on with the brand.

I honestly would like this deal to happen. But... they will have to do a major restructuring and compete or be better than the likes of Amazon, Walmart, and other online stores.

Business is business. They will still have to close down under performing locations.
