RE: Mister No's Plarail Pics & Vids - Mister No - 03-21-2021

I made some screenshots from that Tomy 2001 commercial, and we can see that wagon now a little better. The commercial film is not a good quality itself, so the shots are not very clear either, but here is the wagon from all sides. Stone block? Sarcophagus? I don't know what to think. Maybe it's just the wagon that matches the engine. The question is why didn't that car made in the final product? Why shoot a commercial with it, and then omit it?

That goes for other stuff too - the looks of all elements changed in the final merchandise: the big gates with all seeing eye, the portals - 2, not 4 as planned, the different look on the drive-trough pyramid... (The puzzle is better in the final product - it has a little pyramid to lock the puzzle.) Even the "desert speeder" looks different (the front looks gold in the commercial, but is just plain yellow in the final product).

Here is the wagon (trailer). One thing is sure - it looks good!

The slanted sides on the top of the “box” make it look very similar to the stone boxes found inside the Serapeum.

DISNEYSEA ELECTRIC RAILWAY

The DisneySea Electric Railway is a 2 ft 6 in (762 mm) narrow gauge elevated electric railway attraction at Tokyo DisneySea. Opened on September 4, 2001, the railway is one of two rail attractions at Tokyo Disney Resort, the other being the Western River Railroad at Tokyo Disneyland. DisneySea Electric Railway is an attraction and means of transportation between American Waterfront and Port Discovery. The ride vehicle is a red two-car train, reminiscent of historic elevated electric trains. The majority of the line is double tracked to allow trains to run in both directions, but the stations are single tracked. When a large number of vehicles is in service, it is sometimes necessary for a vehicle to hold out in the double-tracked area when another vehicle is loading and unloading passengers in a station.

When Tokyo Disneyland was constructed, local railway laws were applicable to any railway that connected two points and can be used as a means of transportation, even if the railway was entirely on private land. As a result, the Western River Railroad was designed as a loop with no intermediate stops to avoid this regulation. The law was abolished on April 1, 1987, and as a result, Tokyo DisneySea could add railways useful as transportation within the park without falling under the local railway laws.

Exclamation The railway was sponsored by Takara Tomy.  Exclamation

Plarail model is beautifully detailed two-car trolley. Everything on the car body is printed (no stickers). It uses one AA battery, and it's not too fast. Great little trolley!

One of my all time favorites and in my opinion the best Tram or Disney themed Plarail model. Smile

One detail that may not be seen from the pictures above: these little trams have very nice black couplings:

The battery is inserted by detaching the roof, but the roof is detached by unscrewing the screw on the bottom of the trolley car...

And...black wheels...woohoo! Also.....isn't it metal???

RE: Mister No's Plarail Pics & Vids - Mister No - 04-11-2021

No, both couplings and wheels are plastic. But the couplings are really nice and not too long, so the cars are close one to another (as it should be).
