TrainMan2001's N Scale Trains and Projects - TrainMan2001 - 07-20-2020 So, I completely forgot that Bachmann were releasing Thomas in N Scale (eventually, due to the virus). With how good Thomas looks, and the fact that he's made to British N Scale (Unlike Tomix), I'm not sure that I can ignore the line. ![]() Part One: The Station Building As the title says, I intend to do a mock-up of Dryaw Station (and the surrounding Airfield buildings) to see how much space that takes up, because some of those buildings would be really big in OO scale. The only things I didn't model on the station itself were the advertisement boards, the canopy (only omitted because I can't tell if it's clear or not), chimney pots, and platform. Here are some pictures. ![]() ![]() ![]() Although it is to scale (except the arch windows; they were hard to cut), it's a little rough, which is fine, since it's not really supposed to be super detailed for it's current purposes. I know some of you will probably be wondering if I'll finish my "Backdating Thomas" project. Although it's not dead, I felt like I needed to take a break from it, since too many ideas for it were floating around my head, and I kept making silly mistakes. This new project should be fine, though, since I feel like buildings are easier to do. I hope you enjoy it! Updates will come as and when I have time to build the other buildings. -TM2001 RE: N Scale Dryaw Mock-Up Project - Super - 07-20-2020 You are doing great on the station building T-Man. I think that's the Hornby version. RE: N Scale Dryaw Mock-Up Project - TrainMan2001 - 07-27-2020 Today I started on the Air Traffic Control Tower, although I haven't cut anything yet. It's kind of an interesting building, because it's simple enough that I could just put the bordered detailing on it and paint it, but it's still got that complex control box on top, which I haven't started yet because I'm not quite sure how to do angled stuff like that. Here's a pic of the side with the stairs: ![]() And here are a couple of pictures of what I've done so far. I'm not quite sure that I positioned the window that's circled in red right or not. ![]() ![]() Also, temptation for Bachmann's N Scale line keeps getting worse (They look too good)! ![]() Well, maybe it's just N Scale in general, not helped by the new Thomas line. I have an N Scale locomotive on order from the UK now. :D RE: N Scale Dryaw Mock-Up Project - Super - 07-27-2020 (07-27-2020, 09:39 AM)TrainMan2001 Wrote: Also, temptation for Bachmann's N Scale line keeps getting worse (They look too good)! ![]() RE: N Scale Dryaw Mock-Up Project - TrainMan2001 - 07-27-2020 Super, I'm surprised you didn't say anything about the last bit! RE: N Scale Dryaw Mock-Up Project - Super - 07-27-2020 Is it a Thomas Locomotive? RE: N Scale Dryaw Mock-Up Project - TrainMan2001 - 07-27-2020 No, it's a different one. :) RE: N Scale Dryaw Mock-Up Project - Super - 07-28-2020 Hmmm...so it must be a secret. Let us in on the surprise when the engine arrives :) RE: N Scale Dryaw Mock-Up Project - TrainMan2001 - 07-28-2020 Don't worry, I will! RE: N Scale Dryaw Mock-Up Project - rekp - 07-28-2020 some of the Bachmann N Scale range arriving this week RE: N Scale Dryaw Mock-Up Project - TrainMan2001 - 07-28-2020 Thanks! I probably won't be able to buy anything right as they come out, though. RE: N Scale Dryaw Mock-Up Project - TrainMan2001 - 08-03-2020 Part Two: The Airfield Control Tower & Windsock I was able to get the airfield control tower put together this week. The top of it doesn't really reflect the original model's design, and was only included to give a rough sense of height. It is only a mock-up project, after all. I didn't include the stairs or the sock itself, but they don't take up much room anyway. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Also, Bachmann revealed in a livestream this week what the tankers announced earlier this year look like, and although it was suprisingly quick, they look amazing, as expected (there aren't official pictures yet, though). And I was notified this weekend that my new N Scale locomotive is being shipped now! It's a Graham Farish C Class in Southern livery. I'll post pictures once it arrives! RE: N Scale Dryaw Mock-Up Project - Super - 08-03-2020 Tower is really looking nice T-Man. Can't wait to see the final product. |
