South African Railway NGG16 are classes of Garratts built between 1937-1968.
I really like these steam locomotives, I originally was going to use an NGG16 for Roger(my original character).
They the last steam locomotives built for South African Railways and last 2 foot gauge(610mm)steam locomotives to operate freight in South Africa(look up Alfred County Railway on YouTube).
Most of them survived, with a couple of them operating in Wales, Australia, and their home country South Africa.
The reason why I chose the Avonside 0-4-0t then the Garratt, is because I like small locomotives and they’re easier to draw. The NGG16 Garratt would take me all day to draw.

That sure is a different looking engine. Not seen anything like it before. Is that front section a water tank?

Yep.

Geesh, how many wheels does that have? I take it that this steamer was meant for the long haul with all that room for water and coal.

6 driving wheels on each power bogie.
