R/C James (HiT Toys version) not working...

I have (another) repair related question for the BPT experts. I have a remote control james (HiT version) and the correct remote (pistol grip that makes the various noises and can go forward and reverse), but can't get the train to move. The remote is definitely making the right noises in all positions, but the only thing I can get the train to do is to flash the little red light on it's roof just as I remove one of the AAA batteries. The light flashes for a split second just as the battery moves off the lead. The wires appear connected and unfrayed. Does anyone have thoughts on what the issue might be? Is the light supposed to stay red on a properly functioning R/C train? Thanks for any insight!
The remote Control versions have a micro switch under the front axle and will only work if placed on the track. Smile

I know Mr Ripley is pretty knowledgeable about the inside workings of these, if no one else has an idea maybe he will help.

I think he was just mentioning that there is a pressure switch that will prevent these from working which is true and can be a pain if if you do not know it is there. I recall the R/C diesel I had the switch was bad and I bypassed it by connecting the + and - together.
