Does anyone store their MINIs in clear boxes in a grid style? If so where did you find the perfect match to fit the MINIs the best?

I found an example earlier in this thread:

I would love these...
Check the auto/home storage areaas at Walmart and nails/screws area at Home Depot and Lowes. I bought the ones where you can put two in a square. It runs about $10 if you want the really nice ones (from Home Depot). I got the idea from my brother who uses them to hold nails/screws. Fits two mini trains perfectly and 36 trains in all.

Do you happen to know the name of the brand? Or the link to them at Home Depot?

I store my minis in a bucket and they all perfectly fit inside the bucket. It's best to put some cloth in it before putting the minis in it so the paint on the engines don't peel off.

A while ago I had collected all the information to date about collecting the minis and wrote it up in this post:

It includes links to buy that box (the Darice No Spill Organizer) online.

We have 3 of them and my kid calls them "the sheds."

Not sure I like the idea of storing them on their sides and risking wear to the paint jobs. I prefer the cases I bought from Dollarama.

Does Thomas always have to go first on the blind bag?

No! And as you can see from my checklist web page Thomas wasn't the first blind bag in North America for 2016 Wave 2! The four 2015 waves (excepting the DC Super Friends and Spencer and Edward apparently getting swapped in wave 4) showed evidence of very clear planning (e.g. always in the same order: Thomas, Percy, James, Gordon, Edward, Salty, ...) throughout. If you make that list of engines and then assign their 3-pack numbers to them, you can also see evidence that someone was very precise in creating the Minis. I made this chart quite a while ago:

The 2016 waves don't follow that order at all, there have been a couple errors in the included checklists in the later waves and at least one person on this forum has remarked that the 2016 paint jobs are of a lower quality, all of which makes me think that someone else (we'll say, "less detail-oriented") has been responsible for the later Minis.

i havent really noticed a lack of decoration in the new batches, but one thing i did see, and wasnt fond of, was the tootsie minis having small text on one side, likely copyright info? so long as that doesnt start appearing on everything, all good.

i wouldnt be surprised if mattel has changed their designer/s for this line. with the pixar cars range, there was one man at the head of the team for several years. they reassigned him and the quality and style level dropped dramatically in the eyes of those who paid close attention. kids and small time collectors wouldnt notice as much, but those eagle eyes, it was like they were seeing chalk and cheese.
