how to spot fake parts?

There's quite a lot of genuine rolling stock that doesn't say Tomy on it.

For example, Plarail short wheelbase tankers & container flatbeds, Thomas tankers (Milk, Tar, Sodor Fuel etc.), short log wagons, short Japanese brake vans, short grey fish vans, and so on. These all just have either Thailand, Vietnam, or China on them.
