Backdating Bachmann's Thomas the Tank Engine

I got a bit more done today! I cut away the back of the running plate so that I can graft in a smaller bufferbeam (like the Railway Series/CGI series). I also cut out some new cab sides from 0.75mm thick plasticard, which seems to be a better thickness to use. I do need to file it to shape, though. I also cut off the remainder of the original Bachmann cab because it was really thick and I didn't really like it. I also added some steps to the tank front because I figured out that that's a common feature on tank engines.

I also did a little bit of work on changing the LMS CCT van, since I messed up one of the sides when I was trying to remove the flash from it. Luckily I was able to shorten it, so I'm going to turn it into a Pre-Grouping style (early 1900s) parcels van. The backstory for it will be that it came from one of the early railways on Sodor, since it was still in fairly good condition.

The underframe from the kit looks to be the perfect length to do a Works-Unit coach, so I am also planning to scratchbuild that (eventually).
