Most likely a knockoff

Judging by the shape of it and the presence of an unknown truck, this is almost definitely a faker. Perhaps Muddy can help us with this problem?
Collecting without a clue since 2010

Looks to maybe be a Target store so one would assume it not to be an illegal knock off right?

I saw this set at Sam’s (US warehouse club subsidiary of Walmart) a few weeks ago so it’s likely a kind of “gray side” import that just skirts copyright.

IIRC, it was one of two sets of 3-4 truck or car-like vehicles, one of which just happens to look a lot like a certain famous blue tank engine.

I also found these at a few other departments stores. Never seen any knock off stuff at any of these stores, but I guess there's a first for everything. What's even weirder is that I found official Thomas stuff at these same stores previously...

It’s a stylised smokebox front. Closer to a North American design than the smoother style seen on British, German or Japanese engines.
