Candy and a Disappointment

Received a package the other day with a bit sweet candy and a disappointment.

First:
With my penchant for anything food related I have been very interested for a long time in getting the Doraemon Hamberger Food Truck but most of the used ones that are seen in the Japan Auctions are chipped up pretty bad and the ones that are not go for a high price. Food related aside, my biggest attraction to this is the misspelling of Hamberger. When I saw this new in box set appear for a price comparable a used Food Truck in good condition by itself I pounced on it faster than a Puma.

And of course I couldn't resist a Branded Toys R Us Truck at good price.

Yes I hear you say...but Super didn't you get a new in box set of those Disney character Diecasts in your last delivery? Yes, I did...this was one of those cases where I had put in the low bid on the used set then a couple days later this new set appeared inexpensively as a Buy It Now and grabbed it hoping that someone would out bid me on the used set but no no avail. This does happen to me a lot.

Then the Disappointment...kind of:
I have been after some hard to find Motorized Tomica Road Vehicles and this is one that I haven't been able to get yet. In a Listing of Junk Tomica Diecast Cars they had some pretty poor pictures but in the corner of one I noticed what looked like the Pumper Tanker in the Circle Town Shuppo Set (talked about here Circle Town  ) I was pretty sure it was the Tanker but the pictures were not closeup or sharp of the pile of junk diecasts and enlarging them pixelated it badly so I couldn't get a good look at the condition of the Tanker. The Lot wasn't very much so why not give it a go in hopes that it is what and in good condition. It runs great and chassis and motor are fine but the condition is less that I want so the search continues. In the Listing picture I actually thought the spot on the windshield was a reflection of a flash camera but as you can see its busted.

What a pity about the condition of that tanker. it looks like it would be an awesome model in good condition. Would there be any chance of renovating it? Remove the stickers, re-spray it a different (or same) colour or something - maybe turn it into a fire truck or water cannon? Smile

On a related subject I take it having exhausted the Plarail range you are now becoming a model car/truck collector? I mean you "might as well", but at least tell us lol! Big Grin

Becoming a car/truck collector...not exactly as I have been amassing Hotwheels/Matchbox/Tomica vehicles for several years now and have accumulated many. More recently though I have been into completing what I want and rounding out the Motor Tomica vehicles and more seriously when Sunhuntin mentioned that there were way more made than I realized and about the time we started this Thread https://blueplastictracks.com/showthread.php?tid=3496

Yes I thought about renovating the Tanker and of course I won't throw it away. There are other exact tanker style junkers available that I thought of cannibalizing the window glazing from. I have removed the stickers but that ruined the chrome finish. I was thinking of just removing the tank and have a flatbed for something different or if I could find some cheap tow truck toy and use parts to make a one of a kind Motor Tomica Tow Truck. Big Grin

Super, I'm sure there are many things you could convert the chassis to, if you find yourself in need of a custom part to go on the back let me know, I'm sure I could knock something up for you Smile

I wonder if you can harvest the windshield from a duplicate in your collection and replace the broken windshield

@Leyland

I did think of buying a same style junk tanker for the window glazing but I wouldn't want to take an excellent condition tanker from my collection and cannibalizing its plastic glass to put on a junker. The problem with buying a junker from the auctions of Japan is that even tho the vehicle is very cheap adding all the fees/commissions and shipping to make it worth it. Hopefully a better conditioned one will become available that I could buy.
