Thanks Sunhuntin

When you say too many batteries did the old ones take C's or D's? The ones I have seen listed say they are 9 volts. Maybe they take more than one 9 volt. And yes, they are quite expensive some ridiculously expensive.

i cant remember what the old ones take. only ever set it up once when i was a kid. preferred my tomy, lol. its up in the ceiling somwhere.

wouldnt mind getting my hands on the emerald express and christmas themed one from 06, but both are crazy expensive due to being retired.

I'll say, saw a complete Santa Fe Super Chief F-Unit Train for over $1000 dollars. There seems to be quite a few that are already built up but isn't that half the fun...building it?

wow, id love one of those too. lol. i agree that half the fun is in the building. though, i do hate rebuilding. i use the 4 lego winter/christmas houses in a layout. i leave them built, but always end up breaking bits off when moving them, or worse the 4 plates that make the bottom fall to bits, even with reinforcement. drives me nuts! would love to buy several large white base boards for them, but closest i can find is grey.

the old ones are the ones that require you to plug the device onto wall.

You plug the train into the wall?

sorry. what I meant was you connect the yellow dial controller with wire to the wall.
