theres a pair of "jaws" inside that clips onto the rear coupler. they seem to fair fly when the button is pressed. the ramp/door clips properly shut, meaning if the button is activated while hanging from the supplied clip, nothing is going to get lost.
one touch i liked was the jaws inside being the same color as the engine it belongs to. they could easily have used black or a neutral color across them all.
the engines have either steam clouds or sparks. pleased they arent just repeats and that fisher-price have gone that extra step.
