Trackmaster Revolution (TMR) New releases

I also prefer the Skiff with wheels in the hull, from a design perspective he is more aesthetically pleasing and cleaner looking, Plarail Skiff looks like they just hoisted a boat onto a flatbed, screen accurate or not it's messy imo.

I just think the Plarail version looks to sit way too high. I think the Plarail Skiff (just the boat) looks better than the Trackmaster but sitting so high just looks a bit off. Now maybe if they had a way to incorporate the wheels within the hull like the picture below and use the smaller Plarail type wheels may work better.

I would prefer Skiffs wheels be in his hull as well...I also do not like him on a flatbed, but my biggest objection is his sail height and that it must be removed on the Plarail version to pull him aroundSad I fixed ours with a simple spring and actually gained height and he can be pulled full mast through any tunnel or obstacle.
I realize the choking hazard that would prevent it being sold this way, but an internal pop up mechanism could have been easily engineered into his functional design just as easily.
I have not played with the FP version and don't know it's flaws, so I only can comment about the Plarail Skiff
Play nice & have fun!!Smile

I think the promo images came from the Japanese Thomas magazine.

2) I didn't expect him to be released without rolling stock since introduction anyway, since it would be very unusual not to have him in a "Greatest Moments" pack first. I do agree they should've stuck more closely to the real show with the merchandise.
3) What? I didn't know he was discontinued (?)[/i]. If he were to be remade, they should remake him non-motorized (like Skiff) so they wouldn't make his open parts all black again. Besides, I think they got Jerome's proportions wrong, such as the size of his face and his cab roof being a tad too wide at the sides.
4) That was exactly what I thought when I saw them. I feel The Great Race had far more TrackMaster product potential, such as sets based on the songs like Diesel and Paxton with crates, Streamlined Thomas being released with the blue Annie and Clarabel instead of incorrectly being used in a set where he actually races, etc.

I actually like a lot of the Revolution stuff, but I have a lot of TrackMaster already, although not as much as a lot of members do, and I don't have the room or gumption to spend money on it. Plus I believe I've missed out on the adapters now. I only really collect MINIS and older stuff if I come across it.

I actually thought that Hugo would be released in a set similar to how Skiff was released in Treasure Chase Set.

Well by re-released, I really mean released in the Big Friends assortment with a truck. A lot of products are released for the one year until stock lasts and Glynn was only a Walmart exclusive in the US and Canada, so plenty have missed out on him.

Found the new Salty today in the regular lineup, still no sign of any new Greatest moments like Jerome etc but I always have my eyes open looking for these things Smile

Salty looks halfway decent! I like the painted buffers, but not that they appear painted-on as opposed to 3D, and the other details on the front are nice too.
CG Face on a Trackmaster Salty too, I like it.

Not a huge fan of the squashed cab or the type of van he's pulling but I'm glad they've finally released another engine, non-specific-movie-related engine, to the range.

I certainly hope you find the Jerome pack, that's bound to be a good one to look over. Smile

Nice to see he's actually being sold now. Even the front and rear ends not being thin enough is alright with this version. Perhaps the previous normal Salty in the strange images with the Motorized Railway characters was a prototype. I don't get why he never had a CGI face in the good (pre-2013) TrackMaster style whereas the others did, or why the footplate was still painted white like it should've been.

Ucwepn, is there any new ones advertised on the back of the Salty you found?
Nothing new advertised on the rear just the normal regular single engine lineup
