Day Out With Thomas

Anyone ever been to the Day Out With Thomas? If so what was there to do?
I would say it depends on where the day out is being held in your area. For 2 years in a row we took my Grandson to a Day Out With Thomas at The Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village Advertised things to do for Thomas Day is...

Train Rides on Thomas
Pictures with Thomas
Storytelling/Video Viewing
Live Music
Imagination Station (including our new IPad Station)
Meet Sir Topham Hatt™
Magic Shows
Shopping at a huge Thomas store (in our case a huge tent) and More

But because it was at The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village there is tons of other things to do including model train exhibits, full sized trains, real working round house, old time cars, planes, horse & buggy rides and much more to make it a full day.. So I would have to say that you need to find out what is at the place where your Day Out with Thomas will be held. I have heard that at some sites they have carnivals. Our experience was well worth it.

This is what our Thomas looked like. He looked great chugging around the old time buildings in Greenfield Village.

Super describes right, it depends on where it's held. Here it's been at an amusement park and at the state transportation museum. Each was different, especially the weather, one was unexpectedly cold, and the other brutally hot and humid. It is fun and interesting to see a big old Thomas. Little children have a blast, didn't see any crying. We have mobility issues, that wasn't a problem to ride the train as it was accommodated. Planning ahead, if hot or cold bring hats, or coats, bottled water in a backpack, snacks, money to buy a tee shirt for little ones, ice cream, etc. Plan to walk a lot, we did at both places. Would I go again, yes. Great family fun. Don't forget a camera. The lines can be long, but move quick. There are way more people there than you would expect. After or before the train ride there should be plenty of activities to enjoy that are included with admission or are free, some might be extra cost. We enjoyed face painting, Thomas legos, rides, playgrounds, maybe other trains to look at or ride, a band, hotdogs from the local ladies groups who volunteer their time to raise money for their causes.

as said, it all depends. ive been to one at the ipswich railway workshops in australia. they had several engines with suitable faces, but all were static displays. they also had play areas for the kids and the fat controller. the majority of the day was spent looking at their standard exhibits.
