True Futuristic Train from Tomy

I am not sure whether HobbySearch includes sales tax. All the prices I put up have Japan sales tax included.

Thats a good question although I didn't know about sales tax added as my dealings with other Japanese sellers, Ebay, Amazon and Japamart/Jauce made no mention or charged anything additional. I have not bought anything from Hobby Search yet but that is about to change as I had pre-ordered the new Asoboy train that is supposed to be released this month so I will know then if there is any additional costs for taxes. Thanks for the info Plarnold [Image: nodding-yes-by-a-very-happy-smiley-emoticon.gif]

I suppose sellers can avoid sales tax if they are a legitimate business selling to overseas buyers.

Most of the time I don't buy from online so I end up paying sales tax. -_-

I guess sales tax is less of an issue when shipping ends up being much more.

How do you get your stuff if you don't buy Online?

I usually go into a store and buy it off the shelf. This is why I don't get new things very often. I have to be somewhere that sells this stuff and that definitely isn't where I normally live. Smile

I can identify with that Plarnold, I can't get the Tomy range anywhere near me, to be honest I'm not even sure if they have a UK import operation for it anymore.

For me the sales tax is not really anything I've considered, but if its for export then it will probably be like VAT in the UK where exports are exempt.

The big issue for me is import duty and VAT. Technically anything imported from outside the European Union is subject to import duty (not sure of the rate) and VAT @ 20% if the item is greater in value than £17.99 add on a 'handling fee' and it can get pretty pricey.

So what I have to do is try to order items individually which is a bit of a pain as you end up with multiple packages spread over a period rather than just a single package.

Still it keeps the postman busy Smile

Thanks for the video AC. That for sure is a futuristic train. Don't know how much fun there is with that thing going so fast round and round. I would have to have a lot more track to make it interesting. It also would be nice if it was remote controlled somehow where you could slow it down when it comes into stations and speed up in other areas. Because of the expense of this set and buying extra magnetic tracks I wonder how succesful this will be.
