Thanks Super, yes the switch activation tabs (and all activation tabs in general) have been causing me problems with Trackmaster 2 running, the locos are so light that very little resistance is needed to bring them to a halt especially with their slippery wheels. I have noticed too that the activation tabs, auto points and turntable mechanism do not like the dusty environment of the shed and get gunked up very easily. The easiest solution at the moment as sad that it may be is to disable these parts of the layout temporarily until I can give them a good clean and service.

Well it looks like Salty would make a good EMD GP7/9, long hood forward.

Oh yeah, I keep looking at HO scale EMD parts and the Tomy Salty I recently bought for my son! It won't happen soon because I'm not going to take it away from him. But oh man, the temptation is there!Big Grin

Well, go and buy a second one! That's what I'm gonna do (no use in destroying a childhood relic), maybe now I just need some time and some decals! And if I'm correct, what appears to be a Salty on Ucwepn's layout is now a DL 500.

Funny thing about that.... My son saw UCWepn's review video the other day and decided that he'd rather have the Trackmaster 2 version! I tried dissuade him but he insisted. We worked out a trade and now the Tomy Salty is mine! I'm thinking maybe of converting mine into something similar to an EMD NW5 or Alco RS1.

Despite the bad points about TM2 they run surprisingly smoothly and quietly so it's not a terrible choice especially for kids (they are mostly inclined to choose the newer animated faces they see on tv too Smile

Oh my blue Salty? That is a Victorian Railways T class flat top variant very similar in looks to a GP7 but smaller
