I Like to Ride the Bekonscot Railway

I sure wish I lived near the Bekonscot Model Village and Railway. Every once in a while I love to watch this video of riding the rails of this fantastic Village which such a rich history. Has anyone here been lucky enough to visit the Bekonscot Model Village and Railway? It is awesome.

First video is the one I like to watch every now and then. The second video with no sound is what it looked like back in the 1930's. Wow...even way back then its was an amazing place. Here is a link to their web site. http://www.bekonscot.co.uk/models-and-attractions/

Wow. I would've never thought of seeing such a big garden railway, so I now have another thing on my bucket list.
I AM NOT DEAD. Just inactive.
Wow for once its something cool that is in the UK lol!! I did wonder when I watched it as all the trains are British Outline trains, for some reason I thought something this cool was going to be in the good old USA lol!

Best part is its within fairly easy driving distance from me, so something to do come the summer Smile

Isn't that the most detailed ride on view of that lovely outdoor layout? A lot of love went into that. Hope you get to visit it Nigels and bring us back some pictures and souvenirs. Big Grin

I'd bring an engine home(or I'd try to at least). And a few thousand pictures.

Whilst this doesn't apply directly to this railway I thought this article interesting; 10 best layouts

Thanks Nigels but I only see 9 Big Grin

My #1 is their #1. All of these are fantastic but my favorite and the one I would most like to visit is The Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg Germany. It is truly amazing, maybe not so much finished, although still amazing, its the 40 some part series of how they built it from the start that is out of this world. It is an engineering feat in itself. The creator Gerrits Tagebuch and a team of hundreds worked several years to complete it. The videos are in German but there is English Subtitles in the Transcript. I must watch the series again as I am in awe of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUqMbtMcECE

So another old thread I'm digging up! So today my son was invited to a birthday party at 'Sheffield and district model engineers society' http://www.sheffieldmodelengineers.com. The sun was shining, the grass was warm (& mostly dry) and steam engines were steaming!!! A great sort of place, I thought I'd take some photos and show you all, firstly I'll tell you about the place, it's set in a little woodland area with a stream running by, there are x2 tracks, a raised oval and a lower oval (with x2/3 sets of tracks with crossovers) this meant that there were usually x3 trains running on the lower oval at anyone time, all obeying signals, the upper track had x2 trains that basically followed each other 1/2 a track apart. So they were quite quick in getting people on, even though the ques looked big.

Enough of my prattle, here's the pics,
