Video, New Plarail Steam Along Thomas

Oh My!

Thanks to Thomas fan 1 and this Twitter Account holder we have a video of a supposedly new release of a real steam Thomas. Boy, if that steam is exactly what it looks like in real life then this will be the best steam maker made by anyone. I don't know anything about Twitter so I hope you can see this. I also find it amazing that the steam can work without Thomas's motor running as the child was free wheeling it. I would like to know if this display is from a 2017 Tokyo Toy Show as I didn't see this in a couple of the new 2017 Plarail Expo videos from Osaka. What do you think? https://twitter.com/thomas20148/status/8...0796727296

I knew I had seen this somewhere. It looks like it is on the front cover of the 2017 catalog.

On a side note I would love to try and acquire the last few years of catalogs and get them scanned and on the site. It would be a great reseouce I think. Big Grin
Better than seeing just images of it. I do agree that if the steam effect is not some CGI that they superimposed over the footage to make it look better, it looks far more impressive than both the original Steam Along Thomas and the new TrackMaster one combined. It really does appear to be a huge improvement given that Tomy made both this and the original. Now I see what that grey piece on the side is for (it's there for the excess water to escape, and there seems to be a "puddle" in the water tower piece to prevent it from spilling elsewhere. Also, the engine is more similar to the 2004 (?) Japanese talking one, because it can be uncoupled from the battery truck. It really is self contained, just not motorised. I never got why there was a light in the smokebox in every Thomas that made steam (including the original). The fact that the steam still works when the engine merely detects motion is not new - The original version also had that (I had one). Thanks for the video.
