Plarail suspension bridge

Since there was a recent discussion about the Plarail suspension bridge, I thought I would set mine up and test out an idea I had. My son has a metric crap ton of Trackmaster 2 gray track and it so happens to closely match standard Plarail track in general size. I used four of the TM2 long straight tracks that are approximately 8 inches/200-odd millimeters and they fit almost perfectly. I’m testing a few different bridge approach ramps but so far, my three Tomy test engines (Oigawa C11 Thomas, Diesel 10 and C61-20) have all made it up and over without problems.

I realize that most folks here prefer Tomy track to the current Fisher-Price track but as I said, there’s a LOT of TM2 here at my house. It was a useful experiment to see what works with what. Also, Plarail bridges are easier to find and more impressive.

Cool, I don't think I have seen anyone laying the T-II track on the Plarail/Tomy bridges. So their straights are 8.5 inches?

Yep, the longest straight pieces are about 8.5 inches. A lot of the other pieces size up well with equivalent Plarail track too. The big shortcoming is that things like stop tracks don’t work with Plarail locomotives but that’s not always a problem with our layouts. It’s easier to run Plarail and TM1 engines on TM2 track than vice-versa, so that works out well for us.
