Modified Livestock Wagons

This little modification(s) has been sitting on my bench for quite a while and I don't know why it took so long as it was so simple.

I had always wanted to add some kind of Livestock to my wagons but couldn't find appropriate sized animals or figured out a way to install them. Then I came across the old, vintage version of the Livestock wagons that had cows and pigs already inside. I never looked closely at these original ones as I disliked that color of brown and of course the yellow wheels. I preferred the dark brown ones released later that had black doors, chassis and grey wheels. Using a method I had used before where I switched out luggage or mail bags from other wagons with the sliding doors, I was able to switch out the animals and now have what I wanted. I wonder why the originals included these animals but they discontinued them in the later releases.

For anyone unfamiliar with these, there's a pig one side and a cow the other side. When the doors are shut the animals look out the windows, but when you slide a door open, the animal on that side slides across so its now looking out of the door. Neat!

That’s a cool mod! I had toyed (HA HA) with the idea of using HO scale cattle but it’s been yet another project in need of the elusive “Round Tuit”.

Before discovering for myself these, I too had looked into the HO livestock, or any toy farm animals for that matter, but thought maybe they may be on the smaller size and not be seen inside but I am sure they would probably be closer to proper scale which is the problem with Plarail size. I also thought of modifying some of the Trackmaster Livestock Cargo animals which still may work but then they may be on the bigger size. Undecided

Hehe, I could look for some 3D models if you're interested, they could easily be re-sized to suit whatever you want Smile

Oh, you'd be surprised some of the things you can find 3D models for online (was only a matter of time I guess), I'm not going to expand on that statement, but lets just say there are many types of toys out there for boys and girls lol!!!

So I dare say there is someone out there creating a 'Rosie' as we speak Big Grin

Livestock update...round 2.

Trying to accumulate 6 more sets of livestock for this set of blue Livestock wagons. So far, after a month I have only been able to procure 1 set...5 more to go.
