anybody know how this operates please? tender doesn't appear to have wheels, electric motor appears to be in train tender has switch.
The tender does have wheels, and it houses the batteries and motor. Here's the Boss reviewing it:

Yes, what Chrisjo said. I believe the C-57 is the only (non Thomas) Plarail steamer that is, what I call a 'Push' train as opposed to a 'pull' engine. Like the original Hank, Molly, Mighty Mac and Murdoch in the Thomas line. There are a couple of variations of the C-57 but all are Tender driven as far as I know..

thanks guys - what threw me is that the train has those rubber grips on the second set.

The engine has the rubber tires on it so that the traction rods move easily and the tenders rubber is for the drive. Hope to see you around more Bollard. [Image: nodding-yes-by-a-very-happy-smiley-emoticon.gif]

ah yes, makes sense, why didn't i think of that.

as for being around more things didn't turn out the way i expected, my brother in law has a boy and i needed something for him to play with when they visited, i recalled how good our boy's tomy was, since given away. that's why i got a set and a bit carried away buying additional items. next time the nephew visited he wasn't interested preferring our boy's old electric set which i had found in the meantime.

now i can't really get the set out because it upsets the dog - can't win   Huh
