All The HK MTR Trains and Sets

3 Replies, 3582 Views

I just put these into the DB and didn't realise there were so many variations of the MTR sets and trains.

Here they are all in one place for you to search:

Let me know if I missed any.

Wow...I also didn't realize how many until I see them all together in one place on your Fabulous Plarail Data Base web site. I always thought that the MTR's where neat looking.

Question: Why do so many say 1998? Surely those weren't the years of the Plarail releases.....right?

I'm not entirely sure but I assumed it is the year the train has been in service, hence the '1998 to present' on the sets. A lot of sets are just variations such as deluxe or basic version.

The cool thing about the database is you can search on the name so if you search for MTR you get all entries with MTR in the name. You can try it also for the Taiwan High Speed Rail if you search for THSR in the name like this:

Actually the trains (M Train to be exact) were built in 1979.  They were refurbished with new front end as depicted in the Tomy train in 2008

I found a photo of a M Train with original front end.  I am having trouble inserting the image here for some reason.  Anyways, I attached the link below for you to click

As you can see, it does resemble one of the JR train (I can't remember the name of that train) but it has silver livery with green stripes.
