That is right, the branch rails never had an opposite connector type.



Buildings wise, I don't see any resemblance to those in Plarail. Might be completely original.

I think these bases fit the Plarail trees looking at their size.

Also the slope rails, they are similar, but have a different connector than the red ones.

I didn't know that there wasn't an opposite branch line connector.

The buffers did not appear in TOMY sets so it is original.

I learnt something new again, that the Plarail buffers actually do exist. It is in the top side of the image, which was taken from someone's bought stuff from who knows where. Also take note of the initial Y rail, which is extremely rare in today's eyes.



There seems to be a monster Plarail set which existence is not even known today, so that will be on our bucket list: To confirm the unknown set and the Chitose Airport Set.

Wow, very good eye to spot those. Almost look to be just plugs in the rail portion of the track.

There seems to be female connector buffers only at the moment. The sloped end has both male and female connectors from what I know.

I wonder if these were 'set specific' buffers where they were placed in a certain part of a certain sets Layout that only required the females like specific sidings? Was it you who said that these were from the pre-motorized era when Plarail switched from wooden rails to plastic for the Wooden trains and later and Push Along plastic trains?

If the branch had specific sidings, then the buffers might be too. Plarail never had wooden rails in the beginning, as it started with push by hand plastic rails in the 1958 "Highway Set". The vehicles are wood cars.

I must have just assumed that Tomy had a wooden rail system after seeing these but they must have come way later than the original era.

The Chuggington Wooden Railway was made by Learning Curve (the same company that started the Thomas range), which was bought by TOMY in 2012. That’s why the TOMY logo appears on products that were previously LC. However, the second image is definitely TOMY’s own system (with totally different track connectors), which I never knew existed and seems to be a one off product.
