I usually track Amazon Japan as I get a lot of my car electronics, trains and Tomica from there. Whereas older Tomica would pop up more often than Plarail, the thing is that second hand train shops have become popular in 2023.

People are buying trains and reselling. In fact, Akihabara which catered to a lot of consigment shops, you are seeing more trains being sold and more second hand shops popping up in Japan. It's become business for some to flip trains these days, especially now with prices going up. The number of Japanese websites or articles about selling your trains have become a hot topic in Japan.

For me, I try to look at these Japanese sights: Platetsu for end of life of Plarail: https://platetsu.com/plarail_info/basic_...nd_of_sale

And there is another for Tomica, but you can see Bic Camera and Yodobashi sales spike for these trains or cars that are about to be discontinued and then third part sellers selling them for expensive on eBay and Amazon JP.

The saving point for some is the fact that in Asia, there are those who sell Plarail and Tomica in Japanese packaging. Granted, you may be paying almost or over double but it all depends on how badly you want it.

I'm sorry to bump this thread again, I just saw they got back out of stock again. Some of these people that get them are probably scalpers.
