Risky Rail Bridge Drop

11 Replies, 10690 Views

New to us.
Purchased for US 12.00 including Thomas, 2 boulders, quarry car.

Arthur, he worked great on this set.
The new redesigned Thomas couldn't make it up to the top of this track.

Took a little while to put together the first time. Thirty minutes.
Took the kids about ten minutes to take apart and fix the way they wanted.
Since Saturday have put this together five times.
Takes only about five minutes now!
I qualify for expert assembler!

So do you have this set?
Did you have any problems with any train running off the rails or not able to climb?

I think we like it!

There are a few little errors that can come up while playing with your very nice set. These included, but are not limited to, the following:

1.) Lack of proper response from Merrick's Zip line to deliver the boulder.

2.) The second tier's "speed demon" drop-- if the track below is pushed out of place slightly, the risky bridge drop will land atop the containment wall and not onto the track. Makes for some great crashing fun though.

3.) An engine can only take up 4 freight cars up any of the two inclines. Any more cars and the engine will struggle and ultimately stick where it is.

This set looks like a lot of fun, if only there was more Blue Mountain track made. I'm looking forward to taking mine out of box, but I'm slightly worried about how difficult it might be after reading many negative reviews about it on the Fisher-Price website.

Jdogman, I read the reviews. I've not really got any issue at all with the track. It took time to put it together. I had the instructions. I didn't really have it together right the first time. It's odd to connect. The connections are in different places to lock than normal in some areas. Odd connections too from any other TM set I've put together. However, after the fifth time, I'm pro. The drop lines up right and the train runs good after the drop. The older Tomy trains are shorter and don't quite make the drop as good as a newer longer Thomas. The short ones snub their noses.
Let us know how you like yours!
The set is a little tricky for eager young children when they try to roll the boulder and use the drop line, but still fun to learn patience.

Last night at the Blue Mountain Quarry there was a hail storm

it trapped Thomas

after Thomas was rescued he found that the track was different. Nelson, at the Quarry, had magically appeared.
