I found what I consider the Holy Grail

From what I can tell this set maybe on par in rarity with the Blue EMD F Unit, I ordered this and just cannot wait to find out more info on it... The only U.S. release steam train from Tomy?

Had you heard of this Holy Grail before you saw it? I am not much of a aficionado on these trains but I never heard anyone mention this set before. How do you know its a USA release although I do see the Tomica World on the station sign. Studying the looks of the engine it looks more exact to the Benkei and the General Yoshitsune because of the smokebox doors details and what looks like the smaller headlamp. The red, green and blue Disney Western River Railroad (gold trim) has a different designed smokebox door and larger headlamp. I can't remember what the smokebox door looks like on the older (non gold trim) red and green Disney Railroad but I do think they have the larger headlamp. Will be interested in seeing some close up pictures and what year it was released. Excellent rare find Geris. Smile I would like to say I am impressed but that is the norm with you my friend.

I had never heard of or seen this set ever anywhere. I guess the hundreds upon hundreds of hours of online research paid off I stumbled upon this and bought it immediately, it is like being an archaeologist and finding some new Dinosaur! As you can see Super i do not know that it is a U.S. release hence the question mark after that sentence. I know nothing about this set other than what you can gather from the two photos, more info after it arrives!!!

I never would've considered this to be a preschool train set, maybe slightly older. It looks like the Thomas Medium Set with a different train and the Country Station. Nice searching.

I agree with you there. These motorized trains have small parts that can come off easily let alone a battery that could all harm a child too young to know any better. In my opinion the wooden line would be more pre-school safe than these. Maybe this was before the established rules on age appropriate toy ratings.

the paint will chip off the wooden train. Kids may consume them by accident.

I do not care much what the call it I am just happy to have this! I asked a guy with one of the largest Tomy collections in the world about this and he has never seen it so its gotta be pretty rare, The red Tomy logo gives away its age, and maybe it wasn't produced long because the set really shouldn't be labeled Preschool?
