It was long ago when I remember shooting a Beyblade and remembering the pieces blowing up or beyblade flying out of stadiums and the danger of playing the game when pieces broke or Beyblade spinning uncontrollably from a stadium and getting hit hard in the body or face was a possibility.

Things have changed a lot in years with things becoming more safer and now Takara Tomy has released Beyblade X.  Things look much safer now than they did back then.

Anyone else on here were into Beyblade?

Were these things sharp...thus the word 'blade' in their name?

The spinning portions were not sharp, but the rings are made of diecast metal and usually they come in layers.  Typically the stadiums back then never had covering, so when they collide with each other or when they spin out of control, they'll fly out.  Since kids played them at home on their carpet and weren't standing but sitting, a few kids probably been hit by a beyblade before.
