This is an example of never buy Tomica at retail price or even pre-order.  Usually items on pre-order, you get a better discount but for Tomica, this is hardly the case.  They are sold at retail and then Amazon drops the price right after. In this case, it was Y2600 to Y2200 and then Y1616 currently.  So, best to wait for the Amazon price drop.

A perfect example is the Tomica 121 Scrum, one of the best vehicles on the long line to purchase.  If people were patient enough, they would not spend over Y1000 but many were selling it for Y1600 and now, it dropped to Y696.

And of course, the super popular Isuzu Elf's.  They sell out quickly, but best to be patient as they do get refillment of stock often on Amazon JP.  Best to remain patient as no one should pay too much on regular or premium Tomica's unless they are discontinued. Tomica Vintage or the Neo ones are expensive regardless.

For me...whenever I pre-order from Amazon...they guarantee the price to be the lowest and even though it was higher when I pre-ordered they automatically refund me the difference for the cheapest price when the item is released.

Very nice set with only one disappointment...The cargo for the roof rack on the Van just sits on top. I thought it would somehow snap on so it wouldn't fall off and possibly get lost but other than that I like it 👍

Probably the coolest Tomica releases of 2023 are the Famous Car Collection sets (the first six are the first cars released by the Japanese automobile companies).  They'll be highly collectible considering it's sold at nearly Y2000 (except the first issue).

But the initial 6 are out and now it'll go up to 60 (released bi-weekly).

They are not sold with the standard toy store distribution but more as a magazine distribution as they come with a mni-magazine (10-12 pages):

What the magazines look like and you can place them on a Tomica binder (sold separately).  The binder can hold up to 20 of these mini magazines.





No. 7 was the Bluebird SSS Coupe (released on August 22nd), the 8th is the Mitsubishi LAncer Evolution IV (which will be released on Sept. 5th).
