Hello all. Just so you know. Amazon has a promotion on Thomas things. $15 off your purchase of Thomas. I picked up the Christmas Holiday set for ~$60 USD shipped, which I don't think is too bad.

I received the set today in the mail. I was a bit disappointed in Amazon. Well with fisher price too. The box was not inside another box so all of the standard shipping junk, stickers, dirt, was on it. That said the parts are crammed in the box. Mine had several pieces of track and the large green building that were distorted. I wish they would have packed it a bit different but it goes together nicely.

This set is HUGE. Make sure you have room. I have it set up where we will have the Christmas tree so it should be fine, but the initial spot it would my fit.

Set is quite large but didn't a member here say that was because it was meant to be under a tree?

Must not have been Fulfilled by Amazon as they always use outside shipping boxes, at least with my experience. Plus Amazon has a great money back guarantee. Is the seller Fisher Price through Amazon?

Yes it is supposed to go around a tree, which definitely will work unless the tree is massive. It says sold and shipped by Amazon. The label says Amazon which is directly on the box.
I would contact them as I bet they would send you out another one if you explain how unhappy you are. At least thats what they do here in the States. Then again maybe the different Amazons around the world have different rules.

Amazon is offering a $10 credit back to me since I will be keeping the set, but did offer a full refund if I wanted to send it back.

Also something to let you know on this. They batteries are installed in the engine. So if you are storing this as a collector item, keep that in mind.

Well that seems unusual. Seems like the manufacturing process would be simpler it they just dropped two battery's in the box rather than have a machine or worker do it. I am surprised though that Fisher Price went to the expense. I am surprised that in this day and age they include them as batteries are plentiful and a lot use rechargeables. Ah maybe thats why. Maybe they have had too many returns saying the trains don't work out of the box because using rechargeable s don't work. This way, by including the batteries, that wouldn't happen so not as many returns.
