Toys 'R' Us Bankruptcy & Store Closings

I am not much into the Lego's but if I remember Toys R Us had the biggest area with tons of Lego selections, much more so than any other store I have seen, isn't that right AC?

Toys r us has the biggest areas of EVERYTHING! My boys are going to be sooo disappointed. Our closest store has a GIANT Thomas and Friends aisle. If I remember right the Lego section is 3-4 aisles wide. They carry almost every current lego. It makes me sad!!! ?

The last Toys R Us I went to is closing down, it was mobbed. It took forever to purchase a new Adventures Thomas, there was 15 people waiting to purchase other things even when all the staff possible were tending the registers.

Something Toys R Us lacks is some sort of fail safe mechanism to prevent theft of smaller items a child might grab, I have seen aplenty of times a Thomas Take N Play set missing the trains included.
I AM NOT DEAD. Just inactive.

I read somewhere that the US operation owed Lego a huge amount for sets already supplied but not paid for, was either $30m or $300m can't remember which, but I thought at the time it explained the recent drop in Lego's profits if they are going to have to write a lot of that off.

Probably also explains the relatively rubbish Lego selection in my local store last time I was there...
Happily collecting things all my life... Big Grin

Yes they did, more selection, and I think it depends on the area also.
Target and Walmart carries a lot of Legos too.

I was just at TRU during lunch break! It is bad when it is less than a mile away Big Grin

Interesting article on the toy industry and the liquidation of Toys R Us... http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-to...story.html

Quote from the article:
Quote:Toys R Us is still the place where up-and-coming products get discovered. The retailer devotes so much of its space to toys — rather than the few aisles at Walmart and Target Corp. — it can take chances on new items and smaller suppliers. In many cases, a product is tested at Toys R Us for a season, then added to one of the mass-market chains.

Official...ALL stores in US and UK will close, will it be very long before the whole worlds stores go? I feel sorry for the 36,000 people who will lose their jobs especially the ones with have been with them for a long time. https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/toys-...52515.html

Quote:(Reuters) - Bankrupt Toys 'R' Us Inc is preparing to sell or close all 885 stores in its U.S. chain, risking up to 33,000 jobs, after failing to reach a deal to restructure billions of dollars in debt, a person familiar with the matter said on Wednesday.

In Britain, its 75 remaining shops will close within six weeks, joint administrators for the retailer said earlier on Wednesday after they were unable to find a buyer for all or part of the business, resulting in the loss of about 3,000 jobs.

Ironically they are having a train sale in Australia, not much of interest though at my local store.
