Probs, I think thats it, because he can free wheel when he is turned on.

Free wheeling could also mean a split gear but I haven't seen too many of the clutched gears split but have seen quite a few with clutch slippage. Does he click when you free wheel?

Is it really a crack? The clutch and the gear are separate. Can you show us a close up picture of the clutch and gear?

Thanks super! I'm now a master at repairing Olivers!

Its that plastic part behind the gear, like right next to it thats partially attached, theres a big crack in it, Not the spring.

As long as you aren't confusing a crack for the jagged separation between the gear and clutch as in the picture. At any rate, how the clutch works is...the clutch is stationary and should not move. when the gear fits in the jagged separation held there by the spring, is how its supposed to be with no slippage, when the jagged separation becomes worn or the spring pushing the gear becomes weak, the gear can overcome the spring pushing off the jagged separation from the clutch causing the trains gear to slip which is supposed to happen to save all the gears and the motor if the train is held in place while the motor is on which happens often with little hands playing with them. So, to sum it up, if the clutch side of the gear is moving then the clutch is spinning on the axle which is not supposed to happen. If the gear easily spins on the stationary clutch then its either the jagged separation between the two that is worn or the spring itself is weak. Temporary fixes can be done for either way but a complete change of the axle is the best way using sacrificial parts engines.

I fixed the split clutch, Now I'm gonna play with this Oliver, When it wears out, I'll switch to my new Oliver, But for now once I get this BNIB Oliver, I'm gonna hang him up next to my plarail lady and keep him as a sealed Plarail collectible.

So Basically, What I'm going to do is when this New Oliver shows up, I'll open him up, Then hang him on the wall and not open him till I am ready to switch, Or I'll just swap em out and bubble wrap and store the other one.

So I finally decided what to do with oliver, I dis-assembled my current one and stored him in bubblewrap, In other words, I scrapped him and now I am keeping his drive unit as a extra and his wheels with the clutch. The new one will be my new primary oliver.
