Bachmann 00 Gauge - Underground Ernie Set

22 Replies, 25415 Views

As Chrizzly says they seem to be generally 2 car trains, in fact the Bachmann OO gauge ones are exactly that, one power car and a trailing car.

The ones I mentioned that are shown running on BPT are single cars and use 2 x AAA batteries with a push on/off switch on the top. Similarly there are die-cast non-powered single cars that have speech and sound effects and dual car sets that feature pull back and release movement.

The bachmann ones also have "moving eyes" just like their Thomas range does.

I also just received the 'international station' add-on today that is from the Bachmann range, I'm looking to get the 'sports stadium station' and 'haunted house station' (or whatever its called).

I've also seen some of the sets made for the Tomy compatible trains and those seem to look incredibly similar to Tomy track even being the usual BPT colour, they also have some pretty cool accessories such as a set with an airport terminal with a working travelator Smile

BTW - Anyone seen/heard/got the Tomica 'Dinosaur Train' sets?

Would that be after the Television show, The Dinosaur Train?

Sure is, the scale looks bigger than PlaRail, but the engine is motorised and has sounds/lights as do some of the scenery elements. Add to that apparently from what I've found there are various dinosaur models from the tv show which speak etc... and when in proximity with each other interact.

The set was made by Tomica? I find other motorized sets but not one by Tomica.

They were listed as Tomica on eBay, but I found this on Amazon and it is shown as Tomy, although this one is only a push along the ones I saw previously were motorised with lights and sounds, so who knows Smile

I read somewhere in my search that this Learning Curve set was re-branded as Tomy. Not sure if its true but is this what you thought of?

Sure do, I've since (horror of horrors) opened the BPT compatible ones so will be posting some better pictures along with some comparisons alongside some Tomy loco's etc... One thing of interest is having had them out of the packaging I notice that they have what look like some activation buttons on the bottom. I'm not sure what they are for or do, but will be putting some batteries in and trying them so watch this space Smile
