Help fixing chuffing Annie

24 Replies, 1774 Views

I have some of these 8mm 14 tooth gears (I don't remember what gearbox I had that needed them, but it was something I worked on recently). I took apart a different chuffing Annie just to see if the mechanism was any different by chance but it is the same.

I took the partial gear off to compare it and it looks like it pretty much lines up with the 14 tooth gear. I'd go with that.

When I eventually get to covering one of the sets the chuffing Annie was included in I will include some of this repair information. It may end up being mentioned on the Shuppo D51 page as a variant of the mail car as well.
I have a website where I have been writing about and photographing many of the sets and pieces that I find interesting.

That's awesome DuckGWR thank you! Time to buy some gears. Thank you for your help.

Update: Done. I also ordered a 142.5A for Annie's wheel gear even though it's perfectly fine right now.

Hey everyone I did it. Thank you DuckGWR & everyone for your contributions.

So I'll try not to make this long winded; I got my gears today and picked out what I needed plus my spare rods

I measured and cut both the 2mm and 2.5mm thick rods to size thanks to DuckGWR's measures, put the gears through them, cut down the spokes on the 14T gear to 5

Put everything back together again it sounds like how I imagine it should sound like with original gears.

Thanks again to everyone for their contributions.

Amazing! Yes that is pretty much exactly what my chuffing Annies sound like. Glad you could get it working again!
