Tomy/Plarail Lookalikes

It may seem strange to resurrect such an old thread, but I found it while doing a search for the Kansai branded trains. I came across these recently as I had some in one of the job lots I picked up.

I have to say I think they are rather well made and quite detailed little trains even with working lights, I'm not sure why Plarnold took such a dislike to them

Having said that I think there are probably two different types around, you get 'sets' with an oval of track and a couple of sets of points so you can build a 'passing loop' as well as a train. In some cases it is a 3 car train, sometimes you get a 2 car train with a 3rd car which is a tram, I believe made so you can switch the motor chassis from the two car train to the tram as both have a gap in the roof for the on/off switch.

Then you get the latter 'GoGo' branded models which are typically 2 car trains and I don't believe come with track. These latter ones are I think the ones compatible with 'blue tracks' the earlier ones come with their own track as the gauge is just slightly narrower than Tomy.
