ripley802 you are correct in both ways, it was released in September of 2005, I do not remember the quantity produced but it was quite limited, Think I read somewhere the demand was very high for this train and they did not stay on store shelves long so that paired with the fact that people who own one usually do not want to part with it drives the secondary market price quite high and makes the demand much higher than the supply. so you are right on both accounts.

Hiro is a D51 Japanese steam engine, The galaxy Express 999 is a C62 Japanese steam engine hence the similar appearance!
