Rarest TrackMaster Trains

72 Replies, 31681 Views

I'm genuinely convinced monty is rarer than alfie. I mean alfies pop up on the internet occasionally however monty, literally never.
Train it, plane it, you name it!

I think it’s just a matter of where Monty was sold that makes him seem rarer. Alfie was sold in Canada and a little bit in the northeastern US, and as we know there is a big market for him in America. This would lead to more awareness of its rarity and more being put up for sale. Monty, however, was only sold in kind of random European countries, and many people may not have much idea about its value, so there’s a bigger chance many got lost or are sitting in a box. But yes, I’d agree that, from what we have seen, Monty is about as rare as Alfie.

although this is true.
Monty does tend to be of a (matter) of geographical nature.
However! Make no mistake! What makes Monty even more difficult?
He is not battery operated.
Therefore, Monty tends to be more difficult to find.
Monty(s) tend to be found in a "scrap" heap.
Alfie, on the other hand, is battery operated.
As, well as, duly sought after.
It is, by far, much easier to find a battery operated? 3" by 3" toy?
Rather than a non-battery operated toy. That is 3" by 3"
Respectively speaking of course.

@ TrainsRawesome
A motorized Alfie was NOT limited to the western Hemisphere.
I have seen a motorized Alfie in Taiwan.

I know this to be true! Because I bought a motorized Alfie. From Taiwan.
Several years ago, for 100.00 usd. Shipping included.

Muddy? I just cannot thank you more!
I mean this sincerely and honestly!
Your collection? By far surpasses mine.
If I am second, third??? 10th?
Heck! If I am even near you? With what I have collected?
I stand very proud!

I see your list. And your list tends to be only through a TRUE collectors eyes!

With this said? And I ask this of you because I am "assuming" that you have most if not all of these.
Some of the items in your list? Tend to be variants. When it comes to Variants? Only a TRUE collector would know these.

Is it possible to create a gallery? Photos and descriptions?
Together-all of us- can start to create a definitive list.
Just so that we are on the same page? Your top 10 isn't too different from mine.

@ Gordonfan01
I am quite sure that you are correct.
But when you drift into variants?
Your drifting into something much deeper than most can adhere to or comprehend.
not to take anything away from you of course.
But variants and factory errors?
Those items require a deeper discussion.

however, and I encourage you btw.
If you choose variants and/or factory errors?
Create the thread and I can engage and oblige you in this topic
